Управлять ли компьютером быстрее?

В 517 номере Сooler-а есть две заметки об альтернативных устройствах для управления компьютером (например, для управления носом или глазами).

А правильный ли это путь? Ведь естественный рабочий инструмент человека - руки, так может оптимизировать системы ручного ввода и программные интерфейсы?

Например, сейчас меня волнует такая вещь, как оптимизация раскладок клавиатуры.

Во-первых - выбор альтернативной раскладки букв, слыхали про раскладку Дворака? Интересная статья когда-то была опубликована на Тостере - про QWERTY, Дворака и эксперименты Питера Крауслера - он попытался оптимизировать клавиатуру Дворака. Сейчас на его хомпаге написано:

While I have also once experimented with an evolutionary algorithm to try to discover better keyboard layouts, I was not able to construct anything as good as Dvorak.

Не смог сконструировать что-то более лучшее. Мне интересно - а для кирилицы есть альтернативные раскладки? Я пока не встречал никаких материалов (вот про другие национальные клавиатуры - полно). Был бы очень благодарен за информацию.

Во-вторых - выбор раскладки спецсимволов и цифр. Об этой теме узнал недавно с заметки в блоге Дмитрия Павлова. Итак, клавиатура "Машинопись" - знаки препинания в нижнем регистре, цифры - в верхнем. Цифры мы вводим реже, большие объемы числовой информации можно вводить и "серыми" клавишами, зато для ввода знаков препинания теперь необходима только одна рука. В общем, оптимизация налицо. Из минусов: знаки все же идут несколько в другом порядке, например, вместо "-" - "!". Я нарисовал на клавиатуре знаки раскладки маркером - помогло. Но, думаю, тут тоже можно поразмышлять и что-то еще больше оптимизировать.

Второй вопрос - выбор более эргономичной клавиатуры. На KeyAlt.com, к примеру, есть солидная подборка клавиатур, но глянешь на них - и думаешь, что руководило изобретателями? Действительно ли та или иная клавиатура эргономична?

Мне лично симпатичны клавиатуры фирмы FingerWorks с технологией MultiTouch - датчики отслеживают движения рук над клавиатурой (ловят тепловое излучение, судя по всему) и по клавиатуре. В результате мы имеем клаву и мышь в одном лице, да еще и с функцией управления жестами (gestures). На сайте FingerWorks есть несколько анимированых примеров, например, берем с клавиатуры щепотку воздуха - это "вырезать", отпускаем щепоть - "вставить" и т. п. Однако даже iGesture Pad (простая досочка, которую можно использовать только как мышь и распознователь жестов) стоит 159 $, не говоря уж о полноценных клавиатурах. Без пробы или отзывов такие вещи позволить себе тяжело.

Если двигаться дальше, то открываются два направления увеличения эффективности использования компьютера:

эргономика рабочего места
- кресла
- стола
- устройств ввода
- устройств вывода
юзабилити программной среды
- оптимальная настройка системы
- выбор оптимальных программ
- настройка их взаимодействия
